Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and Other Tales, Review

★★★

Greenside Venue Nicolson Square (Venue 209)| Aug 24-29|13:50| £6.50-£9.00

Come join Peter Rabbit and friends on a walk through the woods. Revisiting classic Beatrix Potter tales in this interactive experience. Children are led around the stage through ever changing scenery, that brings the magical forest to life as each tale unfurls.

Anna West shines as Mrs Tiggy-Winkle truly transforming into the wizened old washer woman. Whilst Michael Dodds adds sly gentlemanly charm in the form of Mr Todd. Will Dean and Charlotte Davey play villains Mr. Samuel Whiskers and his wife Anna Maria so well that it may leave younger children unnerved.

With plenty of interaction for children, including an egg and spoon race and the conga. There is lots to keep them entertained. However, some of the anecdotes and interludes intended for the adults, combined with some rather difficult vocabulary, can isolate children from the performance. Leaving them looking rather confused and asking what is going on.

Nevertheless each tale is portrayed with bundles of energy and enthusiasm from the cast. Bringing the familiar stories of Beatrix Potter to life.
