Jonny Awsum: Honey, I Promised the Kid, Review

I haven’t watched a episode of Britain's Got Talent in full in a long time, so I have to admit I didn’t know much about Jonny Awsum until I walked into Just The Tonic at The Caves on a rather wet Wednesday night.

Jonny’s show centres around a promise he’s made his daughter (I’m sure you could have worked that out from the title) As soon as he walks on stage with his guitar he gets the audience to join in, getting them to compete with previous audiences in enthusiasm. As a competitive bunch we more than obliged.

Jonny’s mix of music and comedy, is a fun change, especially if you’ve seen nothing but stand up shows at the Fringe. He presents the whole show tied in with well designed and timed visuals projected behind him, which helps enhance the production.

I have to admit when he first walked on stage I was a bit sceptical but by the time I came out I had a new song stuck in my head and a fun experience too.
