Geoff Ruderham

Geoff is married to Sharon; they have three children, two boys and a girl, oh and also three granddaughters and a cat. Geoff is still hoping for his Labrador puppy to complete his ideal family group, it's still not looking good though, even after a heartfelt plea from celebrity Alex Zane.

Geoff moved to Edinburgh from his beloved Hawick in 1968 and still lives there. When he was young, he loved listening to the radio, a lot of radio, including the offshore stations and internationals like Luxy on 208, well the telly shut down at half past midnight.

Geoff's way of thinking is, Radio is the most intimate broadcast media there is and it is very personal, so he tries to keep it that way.

Geoff presents Mid Morning from 10am till 1pm most week days. He is the only original member of the daytime broadcast team from the very first day Black Diamond FM went on air “LIVE” in late May 2007.

When asked "Where do you see Black Diamond FM in the future?" Geoff responded:
“Well judging by the response we get from listeners, the station are doing much better than I first thought, though the Covid pandemic set things back, as we couldn't use our studio for quite a while, but as we come out of it we are starting to build bridges swept away by the pandemic and building our core audience

Getting folk to tune to your community station from another long established station takes a lot of doing and hopefully we are doing it quite well, the response that we get on Mid Morning is brilliant and we thank you".

As Black Diamond FM goes forward into our 15th birthday, he feels we are now truly a part of the Midlothian Community. "So maybe we’ll be here for a long, long time, here's to the next 15yrs" he says.

Geoff’s has musical tastes that range from Beethoven, the worlds’ greatest ever composer, to Ennio Morricone and Stevie Wonder. As long as it sounds good. Geoff believes “Music should have no boundaries and anything goes in my mind".

You can catch Geoff most weekdays between 10am and 1pm.
