MS Fundraiser Dean Reilly launches First fee free football club
This club called Duddingston Thistle has been formed to provide organised league football in the East of Scotland Development Association to children free of charge.
The need to have access to football without the requirement of monthly subscriptions is something that simply doesn’t happen in youth football at present
At Duddingston Thistle we are changing this!
Club chairman Dean Reilly, who is an MS fundraiser and ambassador, has put his skills and experience into action to help this initiative get off the ground.
The club is based at Brunstane Primary School and Dean has secured the agreements from electrical and construction companies to fund the conversion of a disused toilet block into modern and functioning changing room facilities.
There will also be the installation of floodlights to ensure this space can be used by children all year round. This is not just a football club, this will be a football community hub that DuddingstonThistle will support children in accessing and enjoying organised league football.
Tonight AT 6PM, MSP Ash Denham will visit a training session to meet all the players and to see the facilities prior to work commencing.
I was invited down to Brunstane Primary School to talk to Dean and others invited along to look at what could be a fantastic sports facility.
