EIFF: We Are The Freaks, Review

todayJune 20, 2013

Background

Rating: ***

We Are The Freaks is a surreal and anti-teen movie set in Thatcher-era England, about three teenagers having the night of their lives.

It’s a bizarre film with a hilarious script and has a lot of influence coming from ‘The Inbetweeners’ and Danny Boyle’s ‘Trainspotting’.

Something I really enjoyed in this comedy was the direct address from the characters. I hadn’t seen this in movies for a while and didn’t expect it but it really makes you feel like you’re a part of the film. (“Don’t you think?”)

An excellent cast, with some faces you may recognize: Mike Bailey and Sean Teale featured in the popular TV show ‘Skins’, Rosamund Hanson starred in ‘This Is England’ and Jamie Blackley was in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’.

World Premier Screening Dates
