Ian Smith: Whereabouts, Review

Pleasance Courtyard | Aug 5-30 | 19:00 | £ 9.00 / 8.00

This is Ian Smith’s third solo production at the Edinburgh Fringe and it shows. Instead of jumping straight into his show Ian skillfully warms up the audience with some fun interaction and starts laying the groundwork for whats to come. Once the introductions are made you are off on a magical mystery tour of humor with subjects jumping from mannequins to Noah’s Ark to his hometown’s local newspaper. All the topics appear as though they don’t belong together but Ian somehow packages them all up into one of the best surprises of the Fringe.

The show is simply presented, Ian makes use of the powerpoint slideshow behind him but it never distracts from the man on stage, it simply adds more laughter as he shows articles, tweets and some of the finest WikiHow answers I’ve seen.

Annoyingly for me to tell you much more would give the game away, but I can highly recommend this show. Ian’s style of delivery is highly entertaining and will have you laughing all show, while admiring the effort that has gone into its writing.
