Ever had the perfect weekend? A fantastic romantic getaway? What if you could relive it all over again? Well that’s what the anally retentive Dean (Josh McConville) attempts with unexpected results in ‘The Infinite Man’
Joining Dean on his ‘re-enactment’ is his girlfriend Lana (Hannah Marshall) Things start to go south when the motel they stayed in the last time is now derelict and the only company comes in the form of Lana’s ex-boyfriend (and former Olympian) Terry (Alex Dimitriades)
This at times hilarious film has obvious influences including Groundhog Day and Inception? (
I won’t spoil the end results for you but I can tell you that one version of Dean in the timeline is funny…two versions are funnier…essentially the more the better! Josh McConville plays the role at the centre of all the crazy in this film with just the right amount of mad scientist chucked in. Hannah Marshall’s character spends most of the time acting like the audience, just confused as to what is going on and asking why things need to be as they are.
The standout character for me was Terry who despite only going out with Lana for a limited amount of time still wants to be with her and will do anything for it.
This is one of the first comedy’s I have seen this year that had some of the ‘seasoned’ press hooting at the screening and if you can get tickets it’s well worth a visit.
‘The Infinite Man’ is showing at the 2014 Edinburgh International Film Festival on the 26th and 27th of June. To find out more visit www.edfilmfest.org.uk
