Get nominating for this year’s Sports Awards
If you know any super sports stars from fabulous footballers to cracking coaches then we want to hear from you.
Midlothian Council is looking for nominations for its annual Midlothian Sports Awards.
The event, which honours our sporting heroes of all ages, is a highlight of the year.
This year’s awards bash is due to take place at the Lasswade Centre at a date to be confirmed in the autumn.
It promises to be every bit as successful as last year when Provost Joe Wallace presented prizes to deserving winners including snowboarder Vaila Chapman, who scooped the Junior Sports Personality trophy, and Coach of the Year Yvonne Anderson, head coach for the GB swimming team at the 2015 Special Olympics in Los Angeles.
Provost Joe Wallace said: “This is a wonderful event celebrating our sporting champions.
“I’m always amazed at the quality of the entrants – we really can be proud of our sporting excellence here in Midlothian.”
Nominations close on Friday 8 August.
Local people can vote for their favourite sports personality in the following categories:
Junior Sports Personality (under 18)
Senior Sports Personality (over 18)
Junior Team Award
Senior Team Award
Coach of the Year
Service to Local Sport
Volunteer of the Year
Send your nominations by Friday 8 August to Tommy Goldie, Midlothian Council, Dundas Buildings, 62 A Polton Street, Bonnyrigg, EH19 3YD. You can also email [email protected]. The forms are also available to download from our active schools website at www.activemildothian.org.uk
