EIFF Kicks Off Its 71st Year

todayJune 21, 2017

Background

Edinburgh International Film Festival kicks off its 71st year tonight at The Festival Theatre with ‘God’s Own Country’ if you think the film festival is not for you then here are some quick suggestions.

Music Fan?
‘Teenage Superstars’ is Grant McPhee’s documentary about the Scottish music scene in the 80’s and 90s featuring bands, such as The Bluebells, The Pastels and The Soup Dragons along with interviews with some of the key people of the time.

Something Family Friendly?
Pixar is bringing the UK premiere of ‘Cars 3’ to Edinburgh with a special screening at The Festival Theatre.

Science Geek?
‘The Farthest’ is a documentary looking at the two Voyager spacecraft and what they have achieved since their launch in the 1970’s.

Something Different?
‘Emo The Musical’ (I haven’t made this up) The festival describes it as “High School Musical meets Romeo and Juliet… with emos!” what’s not to love!

Want To Hear From The Stars?
There are a series of ‘In Person’ events with festival contributors such as Richard E. Grant, Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon,  Stanley Tucci and more. Many are sold out but keep an eye on the film festival website and twitter.
