Kevin J: Council Estate Of Mind, Review

todayAugust 24, 2015

Background

★★★

Gilded Balloon (Venue 14) | Aug 5-30 | 22:15 | £ 10.00 / 8.50

Kevin J hails from the Broadwater Farm Estate in London, this is his first solo hour in Edinburgh so naturally the majority of the material is about his upbringing which may not necessarily translate for everyone in the audience.

Where his set does get entertaining is when he starts talking about previewing his new show in the unlikely location of Ibiza hosting parties every week for the clubbing masses.  What saves this set is Kevin’s delivery and his honesty. I have no doubt that all the stories in his hour are true and that makes them all the more funny.

Kevin admits this is his obligatory autobiographical show, I look forward to seeing where his material goes next. Kevin’s style may be slightly different than the norm for an Edinburgh Fringe audience but that doesn’t stop it being an entertaining and interesting hour.

See Kevin J – Council Estate of Mind at the Gilded Balloon: The Study during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe from 5th – 30th August. For tickets visit www.gildedballoon.co.uk

The Gilded Balloon Study his hosted in The Pleasance Dome this year not Teviot.
