The Complete History Of Comedy, Review

todayAugust 19, 2014

Pleasance Courtyard (Venue 33) | 13:05 | Aug 19-25 (not 20th) |  £13 |

It’s a tough title to have ‘The Complete History Of Comedy’ miss just one obvious gag or comedic style and you have failed. Who better to attempt this condensed comedic run-through than ‘The Reduced Shakespeare Company’

The premise of the show is that the world is in chaos due to the lack of teaching of an ancient book ‘The Art Of Comedy’ in order to end the chaos the band of three skilful comedic actors give us lessons from the 13 chapters.

There are several great moments including stand up from Abraham Lincoln and even a little ukulele tribute to great comediennes past and present.

The show suffers sometimes from American references that some in the audience may not get but a lot of effort has been made to make it relevant to a UK crowd.

The Complete History Of Comedy is on at The Pleasance Courtyard from the 19th to 25th of August (not 20th) at 13:05 for more information and tickets click HERE.
