This week in front of a packed coffee fuelled Filmhouse, Chris Fujiwara Artistic Director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival announced their 2014 lineup.
This year EIFF will showcase 156 features from 47 countries, including 11 World premieres, 8 International premieres, and a range of special screenings and events.
Film highlights include ‘Hyena’ as the opening night gala and Anton Corbijn’s ‘A Most Wanted Man’ staring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
For families wanting to visit the festival there is a whole strand especially for you including the UK premiere of ‘The Nut Job’ featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser and Liam Neeson.
This year the festival is teaming up with Empire magazine to bring ‘Hero Hangouts’ to the festival, where you can see a variety of big names including Elijah Wood, Don Johnson, Noel Clarke and Simon Helberg and Jocelyn Towne, the co directors of the closing night gala ‘We’ll never have Paris’ being interviewed live on stage.
One of the highlights I am looking forward to is the recently crowned GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME (by readers of Emprie Magazine) ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ which I am looking forward to seeing the way it was intended, on a massive cinema screen.
I had the chance after the launch to speak to Chris Fujiwara and find out about his festival highlights.
Full details of the programme are available online at www.edfilmfest.com
