Lights Camera Improvise

Rating: ★★★★
7th-24th August @ The Underbelly, Cowgate

How do you review an improvised show? Due to the nature of the beast it is going to be different every night, the story, casting, music, direction are all going to change with every performance… the answer is simple you improvise!

‘Lights Camera Improvise’ was my first show at this year’s Fringe Festival and it started it with a bang!

The show begins with us meeting Oscar a film collector who has every film that has ever been made or could be made. He lets the audience choose the genre, lead character, location and name of the film. Before you know it the ‘movie’ has started and the cast start setting the location, in our case this was Inverness the hometown of our newly invented superhero!

Considering that the actors have no idea who and what they will be playing when they step on stage the show is hilarious from the start. All performed to live music which provides and ever adapting score to the movie (our performance included the best piano version of Gangnam Style I have ever heard)

This is a great show, which was entertaining and engaging from the start. The quick thinking cast (Mischief Theatre Company) really make this show and I envy them for how quickly they can dream up punch lines and plot lines which all tie together to from a seriously fun show.

I highly recommend you see this and if you fancy more improvised fun then you can also see their improvised play ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’

‘Lights Camera Improvise’ is on at the Underbelly, Cowgate until the 26th of August: BOOK TICKETS
