Rhys James: Snitch, Review

Pleasance, Courtyard | 18:30 | £10/9 |

After taking a year off Rhys James has returned to Edinburgh with his new show ‘Snitch’ Loosely based around an invite to speak at his old school, Rhys gets the packed Pleasance Above laughing immediately. On the day I was in his opening bit was mainly about how soaked we all were from the storm raging outside. Rhys’s willingness to point out his own flaws and admit his own failings endears him to the crowd. Clever wordplay and a good dose of nostalgia have the audience on side and laughing throughout. His witty observations range from the stages of human life through bathing to dealing with landlords. Throughout the set he bounced from topic to topic occasionally circling back, it has the appearance of being haphazard until he pulls it all together.

Rhys is fun to watch perform and it’s easy to see why he’s become a regular on programmes like Mock the Week.
