Derek, originally from Bonnyrigg, started his DJ’ing journey in 1972 playing vinyl music on mobile discos in various Edinburgh pubs & clubs and at family functions.
He started his radio presenting in 2008 at Radio Grapevine the hospital radio station for St John’s Hospital in Livingston and after two years moved onto Garrison FM the radio station for the British Army.
After a two-year stint there, he moved to Black Diamond FM where he co presented the Saturday Afternoon Show for three years with Arlene and following a twelve year break he’s delighted to be back on the Black Diamond airwaves again presenting the Solid Gold Sunday show every alternate Sunday from 10:00am to 12 noon.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, fishing, and holidays with his family & friends.
