Sunday Sport News – 4th August

todayAugust 4, 2013

Background

Hibernian hope to improve on a difficult start to the season when they take on Motherwell at Easter Road in the Scottish Premiership this lunchtime.

The hosts suffered a 9-0 aggregate loss to Swedish side Malmo in Europa League qualifying.

Manager Pat Fenlon told Sky Sports News they have no other option than to remain positive.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is backing Kris Commons to be a key player for them in the Scottish Premiership this season.

The champions got off to a winning start in the competition, beating Ross County 2-1 last night.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Lennon said he was particularly pleased with Commons’
contribution.

Amir Khan has called for Devon Alexander to reach an agreement on their potential fight later this year.

Khan is set to return to the ring on December 7 with the current IBF welterweight champion seen as the ideal opponent for the Briton’s first fight.

Team Khan had put Dubai forward as a possible venue owing to the former two-weight world champion’s large fan-base in the Middle East.

But Alexander has previously stated he is not prepared to defend his title outside the United States, which Khan says is fine by him.

Tiger Woods goes into the final round at the World Golf Championships event in the US city of Akron with a substantial lead over his nearest rivals.

The world number one is seven shots clear of second placed Henrik Stenson.

Woods told Sky Sports News he’ll be taking nothing for granted on the last day of the tournament.
