Alan Laughland, Adult Support and Protection Lead officer for East and Midlothian Councils, spoke to Black Diamond FM’s Alan Thomson about the ‘Herbert Protocol’ and Tommy Petillo, Alzheimer Scotland’s Purple alert Coordinator, spoke about the ‘Purple alert’ app.

The Herbert Protocol is used to help police, and other agencies, quickly and safely locate missing people who have dementia. The Purple alert App, which is based on the Herbert Protocol, also helps with this.
